Some Possible Access Points

A friend has been looking at an OS Map and has identified a number of potential access points along the beautiful Avon

There are public parks beside the river at
  • Salisbury (Grid Ref. SU147291)
  • Downton (Grid Ref. SU173202)
  • Fordingbridge (Grid Ref. SU148138)
  • Ringwood (Grid Ref. SU144052)

Public paths access the river at numerous locations, including:-

  • Across the weir below Trafalgar Park (Grid Ref. SU181237)
  • Below Hale House (Grid Ref. SU177186)
  • At Brugate (Grid Ref. SU154154)
  • At Bicton (Grid Ref. SU148127)

There are other possibilities with access beside the river at

  • Breamore (Grid Ref. SU164172)
  • Ibsley (Grid Ref. SU149096)

As he says "this all makes the River Avon sound very accessible doesn't it!" - but the right of navigation has not been accepted by angling interests and landowners (see the 'Access' pages elsewhere on this site)
